I’m Henrique Oliveira, a Brazilian queer artist born in the 90’s and based in Paris since 2018.Originally from a small town of a very religious and moralist country, the search for my true self has always been bias towards fear and shame. These two things are unfolded and analyzed a lot in my work. Whether by liberation, weather by provocation.
Since very little I developed a passion, highly influenced by my mom, for manual craft. It doesn’t matter if she was varnishing a wood furniture or embellishing a sculpture of a catholic saint, the hours she would dedicate to it were also the ones that we could most connect. And I found this dedication to create very beautiful and meaningful.
The pieces you find here carry a lot of this dedication. Each and everyone one of them are made by my own hands. They are alive and unique. There is no industry or mass production involved. There is me.Dedication needs time.
I hope you enjoy.
